An Introduction to Inclusive Education
Inclusive education is a human right enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability. This webinar will focus on the role of families in supporting inclusive education for their child. We will explore what is meant by inclusive education and examine some of the myths which have grown up around it. We will hear from a family in the West of Ireland who are pursuing an inclusive education for their child. We will look at work that Leap is doing with families to support their child’s inclusive education, including an initiative called ‘Families for Inclusive Education’ Participants will have opportunities to meet and connect with other families who are pursuing an inclusive education and to ask questions. A list of resources to support inclusion in pre-school, primary, secondary and post-secondary education will be available afterwards to all participants.
This webinar is for families with children/young people with an intellectual disability and/or autism who are pursuing an inclusive education for their child.
